60 Participants Cycled Their Way to UMP Pekan Campus
Sixty cyclists comprising students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tengku Abdullah, Pekan and staff of Pekan District Public Library paid a courtesy call to Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) by cycling their way to the Pekan Campus.
They rode for 20km on their bicycles, starting from the Pekan District Public Library before proceeding to the campus on March 30, 2015. At hand to welcome the group were UMP Librarian Head, Haji Ruslan Che Pee and staff of UMP Library.
According to the group's chief Rohaida Zainudin, the activity gave the opportunity for members of the public especially youths to participate in a programme organised by the Public Library. The cycling event was part of the efforts taken to reach out to more people especially youths on getting to know more about the functions of a library as the main public institute.It was about appreciating the functions of a library which was not limited to merely a place to borrow books. The cycling programme also got the youths to join in the activity which was a good way of exercising and keeping fit so everyone will stay healthy and fresh. It promotes living a healthy lifestyle.
