UMPSA has managed to reduce its GHG emission:
- UMPSA Pekan – 38.34% equivalent to 4705.16 tCO2eq/year
- UMPSA Gambang – 20.66% equivalent to 35.04 tCO2eq/year
LCC is an initiative by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) under the Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA) to help shift our cities towards a low carbon future.
In achieving this, the Low Carbon Cities Framework (LCCF) established since 2011 aims to provide Local Authorities universities and all states nationwide to transform their cities into low carbon cities. The LCCF looks at addressing carbon emissions in 4 main areas: Urban Environment, Urban Infrastructure, Urban Transportation and Buildings. It provides the necessary tools – including city design guidelines, measurement and reporting methodology as well as an assessment and recognition programme – to implement low-carbon strategies in a systematic and impactful manner.
