SDG 7 - Affordable & Clean Energy
SOLAR INSTALLATION PLAN
Solar installation plan is one of the UMP initiatives in reducing overall energy consumption in line with the Pelan Kampus Lestari and Long-Term Green Campus Blueprint. The duration of this initiative is 15 September 2020 to 30 June 2021.
Benefits of Solar Installation to UMP:
- Installed by NEM (Net Energy Metering), where TNB will buy the energy generated at RM 0.36 per kw/h (1: 1).
- Proposed installation on the ground and roof of the walkway at on campus.
- 5,000 students will enjoy this renewable energy, as university savings, income generation and even a place to students and staff study and study solar technology.
- Improve the ranking of the Green Matrix UI.
- Reduction of carbon dioxide emissions to the environment.
- Long -term income generation
Summary of the project:
Solar Installation Capacity: 4.2 MWp
Location: parking area, walkway, roof
Installation Cost: RM2.5mil/MW
Duration: 10 months
Project Implementation: Usahasama Swasta dan Agensi UMP; Dekad Aliran Sdn. Bhd; Yayasan UMP
ENERGY CONSUMPTION MONITORING & ENERGY WASTAGE IDENTIFICATION
Description:
Energy Consumption Monitoring is conducted monthly to identify energy wastage. The monitoring and analysis were conducted by UMP certified energy manager.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) has implemented several initiatives on building upgrading for high energy efficiency in line with Pelan Kampus Lestari. UMP has a certified energy manager for energy efficiency implementation and monitoring.
BUILDING WITH VENTILATION BRICKS
The ventilation brick is used for the new mosque building at UMP. The installation of air bricks allows air to flow under the floorboards, helping to regulate temperature and thus minimize the usage of energy for cooling down purposes.
ENERGY-EFFICIENT INITIATIVES
Energy-saving Light / LED has been installed widely in UMP Pekan, Hostels, Offices, Street lights, and compound lights. Additionally, the existing bulb has been replaced with energy-saving bulbs or lanterns.
