TRAINING ON ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS OF SUSTAINABILITY
UMPSA provides mandatory annual training on the environmental aspects of sustainability for both academic and professional staff. The training aims to enhance awareness and knowledge on environmental protection, resource efficiency, waste management, energy conservation, and sustainable campus practices. Through these initiatives, the university encourages staff to actively support environmental sustainability and contribute to a greener campus environment.

STUDENT COMPETENCY EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME: PTVET 2025 PROFESSIONAL AND COMPETENCY COURSE – OFF-GRID SOLAR PV SYSTEM As part of the Student Competency Empowerment initiative under the UMPSA25 Strategic Plan, the Advanced TVET Centre (PTVET) at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah organised a two-day Off-Grid Solar PV System course for 15 undergraduate students at the Sustainable Energy Laboratory, FTKEE. The programme provided theoretical and practical training on solar energy, load calculation, and installation of off-grid solar PV systems, enhancing students’ knowledge of renewable energy and preparing them for the green energy workforce. |

LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATION TRAINING PROGRAMME – EMPOWERED FOR ESG PROFESSIONALS The programme provides Level 1 training and certification in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. Through workshops and practical activities, participants learn how to apply ESG principles in their workplaces. The training helps participants support sustainability initiatives and ESG-related projects while contributing to the sustainability goals of UMPSA and global targets such as United Nations SDG 13 (Climate Action). |

PLOGGING PROGRAMME IN COLLABORATION WITH POS MALAYSIA BERHAD (PAHANG) AT PANTAI TANJUNG GOSONG Nearly 100 volunteers from UMPSA, Pos Malaysia Berhad Pahang, Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp), and Alam Flora participated in the Plogging@Pantai Tanjung Gosong programme, collecting 333.2 kg of waste along less than 500 metres of coastline. Led by UMPSA’s Centre for Sustainable Development (SDC), the initiative promoted environmental awareness, strengthened collaboration among partners, and supported future coastal waste management planning while highlighting the eco-tourism potential of Pantai Tanjung Gosong. |

BIG CLEANING DAY : KEEPING FACULTY RED CLEAN AND GREEN The Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering Technology and Mechatronics (FTKPM) at organized a Big Cleaning Day at the UMPSA Pekan campus on 18 February 2025. The programme aimed to maintain a clean, safe, and sustainable campus environment. Activities included cleaning common areas, collecting litter, and promoting proper waste segregation in support of the EKSA framework. The event also encouraged staff teamwork and environmental responsibility while supporting the university’s sustainability and green campus initiatives. |

HEALTHY LIFESTYLE PROGRAMME: UMPSA CLEANS PANTAI LAGENDA 25 staff from UMPSA participated in the Healthy Lifestyle Programme organised by the Advanced TVET Centre (PTVET) at Pantai Lagenda, Kuala Pahang. The programme included a Fun Ride and plogging (beach clean-up) activities that promoted physical activity, environmental awareness, and proper waste management. AQUARESQ: STRENGTHENING PUBLIC UNIVERSITY VOLUNTEERS FOR FLOOD RESPONSE UMPSA participated in the three-day AQUARESQ Programme: Rapid-Flow Rescue and Flood Risk Management at Mengkawan Chalet, Sungkai, Perak, organised by Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) with MASKUM. With 1 staff and 1 student attending, the programme’s scenario-based training improved participants’ skills, confidence, and professionalism in flood rescue operations, supporting UMPSA’s disaster preparedness and environmental risk management efforts. |

7. UMPSA RIMBA KOMUNITI TREE PLANTING ACTIVITY UMPSA planted 100 forest trees at Rimba Komuniti, UMPSA Pekan for Antarctica Day, involving 50 staff and student volunteers. Organised by the Centre for Sustainability Development with the Eco Nexus Club, the initiative featured five local tree species—keladan, kulim, keranji, kembang semangkuk, and keruin—to promote biodiversity conservation and ecological balance. Led by Dr. Suhaidah Hussain, the programme highlights UMPSA’s commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility, and fostering awareness and volunteerism within the university community. |
