UMPSA CARBON REDUCTION TARGET

Carbon-free 2050" refers to the goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by the year 2050. This means reducing greenhouse gas emissions to as close to zero as possible, while offsetting any remaining emissions through methods like carbon capture, renewable energy sources, and sustainable practices. Many countries, companies, and organizations, including Malaysia, are setting this target to combat climate change, reduce environmental impact, and transition to a more sustainable future. The aim is to limit global warming and protect the planet for future generations.

UMPSA has officially develop its carbon reduction target in 2022 with initial baseline 14,008 tonne CO2.. To achieve this goal, UMPSA has participated in the Low Carbon City 2030 Challenge since 2023. UMPSA commitment towards achiving carbon free target in 2050 has stated in UMPSA Sustainable Campus Blueprint 2022-2025.
