Energy Monitoring
Energy consumption monitoring is conducted monthly in order to identify the energy wastage. The monitoring and analysis were conducted by a UMPSA certified energy manager.
In 2023, the total electricity usage over the past 12 months reached 27,448,825 kWh, showing an increase compared to the previous year (2022). This rise in energy consumption is largely due to ongoing development at the UMPSA Pekan campus, which is currently only 55% built. New projects, such as a Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) with a capacity for 15,000 PPE, were completed this year, replacing the previous facility that could only serve 5,000 PPE, resulting in a 300% increase in energy demand. Additionally, a new hostel for 600 students was completed in the same period.
Despite this increased demand, various initiatives have been implemented to reduce energy consumption across the campus. These include awareness campaigns, energy efficiency programs, and renewable energy initiatives, all of which are regularly audited by local authorities to ensure effectiveness.
